Tattoo removal FAQs

Can lasers remove all types of tattoo?
Almost certainly, yes. Modern laser machines have several different wavelengths to remove most colours of ink.
How many sessions would I need?
On average, tattoos take between 5 and 15 treatments. Things such as colour of tattoo, type of ink, skin type, and location of tattoo affect how many treatments you will need. Any good clinic will give you a rough assessment of the number of sessions needed before you start your treatment.
How much does it cost?
Bank on between $100 and $250 per session, although prices vary according to clinic and the type of tattoo you want removed.
Does it hurt?
Not really, clinics take elaborate steps to minimise any pain for their patients. In most cases, a Zimmer cooling machine is used to cool the skin before, during and after the treatment. You can also treat your skin with a topical anaesthetic cream before your treatments to numb the area. Treatments such as aloe vera and synthetic creams are available for after treatments.
Will there be any scarring?
If you follow the clinic's instructions on after care, no, there won't be any scarring.
Can I get a new tattoo on the same patch of skin?
Yes, the treated area can be tattooed over after removal or fading.
